Nov 18 (Fri)~Nov 20(Sun) Ebisu Shrine's autumn festival

Ebisu Shrine's autumn festival marks the arrival of winter in Hiroshima. Known among locals as Ebessan after the god of commerce, surrounding stores hold sales and buy who Komazarae bamboo rakes adorned with gold coins and a treasure ship. A large keg with mouth wide open is placed in front of the shrine to receive offerings.
The festival usually pulls in around 300,000 people.
Usually on one day final day the main Chuo-dori road is closed to traffic for 3 hours between 7pm and 10pm and addition to all the stalls and activity arund Ebisu shrine there are two stages set up, one at the Ebisu-dori intersection and another at the Shintenchi intersection where kagura dance and taiko drum performances are held.

Dreamination has been started from November 6.

it is one of Hiroshima's biggest draws of the winter season and becoming a one of the city's biggest yearly attractions.

Peace Boulevard and parts of city center will be illuminated with thousands of colored light bulbs to what some think are somewhat tasteless effect and to others are exciting and fun!!

Oct 10-11 (Sat-Sun) Saijyo Sake Festival !!

The Sake Festival will be held in Saijo town this weekend, 10th and 11th of October.

In Saijo there are many sake breweries, one of the towns in Japan famous for the production of sake. You can go around the breweries and enjoy sake tasting.

In the Sake Hiroba, you can get your own little cup with 1300yen (1600yen on the day), and participants can taste about 900 different samples of sake from all over Japan.

(There is no re-admission to the Sake Hiroba, so if you want to do tour the breweries and go around the back streets, you should probably do that first.)

Each sake brewery also hosts various elaborate events, such as concerts at the brewery, and more than 200,000 tourists take part in the festivities.

Mar 25-Apr 3 Miyajima Hina Doll Festival




Are you looking for a nice excursion in Hiroshima? There are wonderful events on Miyajima Island now!! The Miyajima Hina Doll Festival is held from the 25th of March until the 3rd of April.

The 3rd of March is the actual day of the Dolls' Festival in Japan. This festival is a traditional event held to pray for girls' healthy growth. Families with girls display a set of hina dolls at home. It is believed hina dolls protect girls from bad luck.

In this Miyajima Hina Doll Festival, you can see private antique doll displays at over 30 locations including historical Japanese residences which are only open to the public during this festival, and English-speaking volunteers will help you organize your visit at the Doll Festival Information Center in Omotesando Shopping Arcade.

Please buy tickets at Miyajima Pier for the four main displays at: Miyajima History and Folklore Museum (English speaking guides), Daishoin Temple, Yamanaka House, and Konishi House.
