Ceremonies to honor the souls of the war veterans enshrined at Gokoku Shrine are held annually on the last consecutive Friday, Saturday and Sunday to fall in May.
From a visitor's point of view the highlight is the Miko-odori in which 100 young women maidens dressed in scarlet hakama perform several dances (Saturday May 29, 18:30).
On Sunday, there is a childen's sumo tournament (a particular favorite among the souls of fallen soldiers) from 10am and there are kagura performances in the evening from 7pm.

May 26 (Wed) Sake Paradise @ Alice Garden

You can't miss this event if you like Japanese Sake!

For our money this one night sake infused blow out in the city center blows the more famous festival in Saijo away. It's great fun, you don't get sunburnt and the high quality sake doesn't run out until you are way beyond caring.

Yamato-ya's annual Nihonshu (that's sake) Rakuen festival is always lots of fun and it's always great to see Alice Garden packed with people enjoying themselves on a week night.

Usually about half of the 30 or so sake breweries are from Hiroshima and the rest from far and wide, but all will be serving top quality sake. Think you can try all 60 varieties? Music and food too.

Get drunk and Have fun!!!

Date/Time: May 26, 17:00 - 20:00

●Trial ticket: ¥1000 (5 cup ticket)
●All you can drink: ¥2000 (¥1500 in advance)
