Dress up as your favorite anime/manga characters, or go and take pics in the basement of the Former Bank of Japan’s Hiroshima Branch.

Enjoy a piece of Modern Japanese pop culture with “costume roleplay”, otherwise known as “cosplay”. Dress up as one of your favorite characters and join the party at the Former Bank of Japan’s Hiroshima Branch on Halloween. As a historical site of Hiroshima, the former Hiroshima Branch has the perfect ambience for fun cosplay photo shoots! Want to cosplay? Or take photos? Feel free to do both! This event is welcome to everyone.

Cosquerade have posted some guidelines for participants (for some reason participants are "forbidden" from wearing their costumes to the venue) and for those who want to take photos.

Oct 30(Sat) 31(Sun) Hiroshima Food & Peace/Love Festival

Lots and lots of food, cooking demos, displays, flea market, kagura and culture displays... and a few hundred thousand people looking for free samples in and around Hiroshima Castle.

Over 300 booths from 23 towns and cities in the prefecture will be hawking everything from beef to oysters around Hiroshima Castle, in the Shareo shopping bunker and around Pacela.

Over in Chuo Park will be the international festival which, now in its 26th year, has been absorbed by this monster event.

Chinatown costume pickers and representatives from party sponsors and will be choosing a shortlist around midnight in Chinatown. Do the rounds of the sponsoring bars (Barcos, Roxis, The Shack, AM, Kemby's, Molly Malone's, Molly's Med Cafe and Southern Cross) before hitting Chinatown for the chance of getting picked in advance - but if you want to be in the running for costume prizes you need to be Chinatown around the witching hour.

Polaroids for charity

Get a great picture of you and your friends and a little square of photographic history, and donate to a good cause. More details coming soon.

The agreement of the Tourism and Friendship City was concluded between Miyajima and Mont Saint-Michel last year in 2009.

They celebrate the first anniversary on the island over this weekend.

Oct 30 (Sat) Sumo in Hiroshima


Sumo is back in Hiroshima for a day in October one of the sumo association tours of the provinces that take place
between major tournaments.

The performances include displays of comic sumo and traditional sumo songfests in addition to the normal sumo bouts.

October 8th Onomichi Akari Matsuri


Onomichi Akari Matsuri ▲▲▲





Onomichi invites visitors to take another look at the town and the many temples that surround it, by the light of thousands of candles.

In the event of bad weather the event will postponed until October 30.

Access:

Buses leave about every hour from stand #6 at Hiroshima Bus Center (also calling at Fudoin and Nakasuji Station on the Astram Line) take about 1hr 20min and cost ¥1700 one way and ¥2900 return. PDF download of nus schedule here

Local trains on the Sanyo Honsen Line take about 1hr 30min from Hiroshima JR Station and coast ¥1450 one way.
