July 28th (wed) KANGENSAI @ Istukushima shurine

This, the largest festival at Miyajima's Itsukushima Shrine and one of Japan's biggest Shinto rituals performed on boats.
It is supposedly based on an pastime of the people of the court and aristocrats of the Nara and Heian periods, who enjoyed themselves while floating on boats in the pond and playing wind and stringed instruments.
At the festival, beautifully decorated boats sail across the sea playing three wind instruments, three stringed instruments and three drums, replicating a scene from a Heian picture scroll.

This festival is as know as one of the wonderful festival of Miyajima.
You shouldn't miss this during your stay in Hiroshima!!!

July 24 (Sat) Minato Yume Fireworks Festival

Marking the arrival of summer, this huge firework display is held near Ujina Port. Held in conjunction with the Ujina Summer Festival which runs from 12pm it pays to get down there early. Stake out your spot with your "blue sheet" go check out the festival fun until sunset.

From J-Hoppers Hiroshima, take the tram #3 down to Hiroshima Port (about a 50-minute ride) and set up a space near the water for the best views. The fireworks start at 8pm. There'll be some 10,000 fireworks to "ooh" and "aah" at. It is an impressive display and the atmosphere created by all the groups and families lining the water is really good.

Try to get there early if you have a large group.

If it rains, it will be held on the July 25th at the same place.
