Ebisu Festival in Hiroshima

Date: 2013 Nov 18th~20th.
Place: Ebisu Shrine, Chuo Dori, Alice Garden

Hello from Hiroshima. Its Kana here. Its already Oct now...Only few months to year 2014!!
Can't believe it. TIME FLIES...

It is getting colder and colder here in Japan. Summer is completely over...
Speaking of autumn, there is a one of my favourite festival is held in Nov.

"EBISU FESTIVAL"

Ebisu Shrine’s autumn festival marks the arrival of winter in Hiroshima. Known among locals as Ebbesan after the god of commerce, surrounding stores hold sales and buy Komazadare bamboo rakes adorned with gold coins and a treasure ship. You might here business owners complain that the whole thing is a racket, but you won’t see a shop, restaurant or bar in the area without one. A large keg with mouth wide open is placed in front of the shrine to receive offerings.

The festival usually pulls in around 300,000 people.
Usually on one day the main Chuo-dori road is closed to traffic for 3 hours between 7pm and 10pm and addition to all the stalls and activity arund Ebisu Shrine there are two stages set up, one at the Ebisu-dori intersection and another at the Shintenchi intersection where Kagura dance andTaiko drum performances are held.

This festival is one of big three festival in Hiroshima and this is the last one!! So do not miss it and enjoy Japanese traditional festival!!
